It was a common ancient belief that a new star appeared in the sky, at the birth of a new ruler. The magi left their country and traveled West to find the newborn king, to honor and respect him. The journey would have been long and dangerous. Yet, they did this even though they weren’t Jewish, and Jesus wouldn’t be their king.
Lord, help me to honor and respect you, for you are my king and my God.
