Matthew 2:16-18, The Massacre of the Infants

Jealousy is the fear that someone will take something from you. King Herod was so fearful that a newborn would one day take away his throne that he killed all the infants. We all are susceptible to jealous tendencies. We may become jealous when someone else gets a promotion or when our spouse flirts with a friend. We may also become jealous when God asks us to follow his commandments as we feel he is taking away our freedom to have fun and do what we want. Jealousy can harm our relationship with others and separate us from God.

Lord, help me to overcome my own jealous tendencies, so I may be closer to others, and to you.
