The teachings of Jesus were, and still are, radical: love your enemies, forgive those who hurt you, marriage is between a man and a woman, etc. Many of his commandments contradict cultural norms and are difficult to understand. Some people choose to ignore the teacher and decide for themselves what is right. Others choose to follow Jesus, even though they will be hated and persecuted by others, and in some cases, their own family.
Lord, help me to follow you and prepare me for the coming persecutions.
