Jesus says that unless we put God first in our lives, we will not spend eternity in heaven. Our relationship with God is more important than our relationship with our family and friends. He also says we are not worthy of the kingdom of heaven if we don’t take up our own cross. That is, we must be willing to embrace the challenges, sacrifices, and sufferings that will come from following Jesus.
Lord, help me to embrace my cross and desire you more than anyone or anything.
