Earlier, John the Baptist told the crowds to repent; to turn away from sin and turn towards God. This was so important that it was the very first word of Jesus’ public ministry. God gives us the freedom to choose. He wants us to choose him, but he knows that sometimes we choose sin. We may even sin over and over again. But God never stops loving us. No matter what we have done or how many times we have done it, if we turn to God he will welcome us back into his loving arms.
Lord, help me to turn away from sin and turn to you.
