The things of this world do not last; they break, they become obsolete, and they get stolen. Having material things here on earth is good. Clothing, a house, and transportation are important and necessary. Nice furniture and artwork can add functionality and beauty to our home. But the accumulation of things should not be our focus. Jesus tells us to store up treasures in heaven. Our relationship with God is our single most important treasure.
Lord, help me to treasure you more than things of this world.
