Matthew 6:24, God and Money

The four primary idols we desire are pleasure, power, prestige, and wealth. Mammon is an ancient word for wealth. Money is necessary for providing for our family and helping others. There are many wealthy people who have done great things with their money. But there are others who make the acquisition of wealth their central desire leaving little room for God in their life. Jesus warns us that we can’t serve two masters; God and money.

Lord, help me to serve only God, and use his gift of money wisely.
