To judge is to form an opinion or draw a conclusion. In this context, it is immoral behavior that is to be judged. Jesus tells us that if we have a large beam of immorality in us, then we should not be judging even the smallest splinter of immorality in others. Before we can rightly judge others, we must do our best to live righteously according to God’s will. Then, with patience, prayer and compassion, we should address the immorality of our brothers and sisters, for the sake of their soul.
Lord, help me to see and address my own faults so that I may lovingly help others.
