The Pharisees were good at following the letter of the law. Jesus could have eaten with them and praised them for their efforts to avoid sin. Instead he had dinner with the sinners, people the Pharisees judged to be unworthy. How often are we like the Pharisees, judging others for their wrong-doings?
Lord, help me to show mercy to my fellow sinners so that I may hear and answer your call.
