Jesus said he will repay everyone according to their conduct. Those who become a disciple and follow him, must deny themselves and take up their cross. The teachings of Jesus were not popular 2,000 years ago, and are still not popular today. If we become one of his disciples, we will face hardship and rejection here on earth, but we will receive eternal happiness in heaven. If instead we reject his teaching and idolize wealth, power, pleasure, and prestige, eternal damnation will be our reward.
Lord, help me to desire only you, and to conduct my life as one of your disciples.
