Elijah was one of the greatest prophets and it was believed that he would return before the Messiah. While the person Elijah did not return, the role of ‘the greatest prophet’ did come before Jesus. That role was filled by John the Baptist. We all fill many roles in our lives; parents, workers, leaders, etc. Those roles are all good and necessary in society. But God also has a unique role for each of us in his kingdom here on earth.
Lord, help me to spend quiet time with you so I may understand my role.
