Jesus is protective of his disciples, the little ones, who become child-like and trust in God. Those who cause his disciples to stumble and sin will be dealt with harshly. Therefore, we need to cut out those things that cause us to sin. Jesus is very serious about this teaching and to drive home his point, he tells us to cut off our limbs and tear out our eyes. He knows that it isn’t our body that causes us to sin, but the desires of our heart.
Lord, help me to avoid those temptations that lead me to sin.
