In ancient times, children were perceived as a nuisance and as having little to no value. The disciples criticized the parents for bringing their children to Jesus. Since these children couldn’t understand the message of salvation, they were a distraction and unimportant. But Jesus welcomed the children and laid his hands on them. The kingdom of heaven isn’t just for adult believers; all are welcome. Today, parents bring their children to church so they may be united with Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit through Baptism.
Lord, help me to value all your children and welcome them into your church.
