It was prophesied that the Messiah would be a descendant from the line of David. The Jews were expecting a human king to deliver them from the bondage of slavery and oppression. However, David referred to the Messiah as a divine king when he said “The Lord (God) says to my Lord (Jesus).” The Son of David is both human and divine. He is God, who became human, to deliver us from the bondage of sin.
Lord, help me to comprehend your dual nature as both human and divine.
