The Temple of Jerusalem was a magnificent architectural marvel and one of the grandest constructions of the ancient world. It was the center of the entire Jewish faith and the place where God resided, connecting heaven and earth. To hear that it would be destroyed would be unimaginable. But that’s what happened a few decades later. The greatest things on earth do not last. Our homes, our possessions, even the ground we live on, will one day be gone.
Lord, help me to focus on you and not be attached to the things of this world.
