The religious leaders wanted Jesus killed because he did not meet their expectation of the Messiah. He challenged their interpretation of scripture, their authority, and their practices. Because of their pride and envy, the religious leaders were spiritually blind to God and perceived Jesus as a threat to their positions of power and honor. Today, some people are trying to kill the memory of Jesus. Other people are interpreting his teaching to fit their desires and justify their actions.
Lord, help me to know your truth and not follow those who would lead me away from you.
