Jews celebrate Passover to commemorate their freedom from slavery. Christians celebrate The Lord’s Supper to commemorate their freedom from sin. We prepare for important events in our life; competitions, a new job, getting married, etc. We study. We practice. We dress up. We want to be our best for these events. But no event is more important than going to church, to celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Do we prepare as if it is the greatest event in our life? Or are we indifferent, and even irreverent, when we go to see our God?
Lord, help me to prepare to see you at church; in the community, in the readings, and in Holy Communion.
