Jesus is fully divine. He is also fully human. As a human, he would feel the pain he was about to endure. The barbed whips would tear open his flesh. Nails would be driven through his hands and feet. And he would hang on the cross, barely able to breath, until he died. Jesus had the power to avoid this pain, but he trusted in the will of his Father. We too will suffer pain in our lives. Hopefully not as brutal as Jesus, but we will suffer: physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Lord, help me to embrace my own pain and suffering, trusting in the will of my Father.
