The chief priests and Pharisees asked Pilate to have the tomb guarded, hoping to silence the followers of Jesus. They wanted to practice religion their own way because the teachings of Jesus were, and still are, controversial. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the church Jesus established has been teaching the faith for over 2,000 years. But in the past few centuries, men and women have created over 30,000 versions of Christianity in order to practice religion their own way.
Lord, help me to understand and practice religion your way.
