The guards reported to the chief priests that an angel, a messenger from God, had rolled back the stone and revealed that Jesus was in fact raised from the dead. Surely, the chief priests would believe now. But, their hearts were so hardened that they would not even believe this unbiased account. There will always be people who are blind to the truth and nothing we can say or do will convince them otherwise. Earlier Jesus tells us that we are not to coerce them or judge them, but to move on.
Lord, help me to accept that not all will believe in you.
