Matthew 27:15-26, The Sentence of Death

The chief priests and elders persuaded the crowd to shout for Jesus to be crucified. The crowd had previously shouted for glory at Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Was their faith so weak that they could easily turn away from the one they called Messiah? Today, modern culture also wants to persuade the crowd: truth is subjective, marriage and gender can be defined by the individual, and pleasure is the greatest good. Who will we listen to?

Lord, help me to be strong in my faith and not turn away from you.
