Jesus used the barren fig tree as a teaching moment. If a tree does not fulfill its purpose, then cursed be that tree. Likewise, if we don’t fulfill our purpose, then cursed be us. So what is our purpose? How do we bear good fruit? God created each of us with unique talents and abilities. If we nurture our relationship with God, we will know our purpose and bear good fruit. If we neglect our relationship with him, our soul will wither away like the fig tree.
Lord, help me to be with you, to know my purpose, and to bear good fruit.
